Holiday Houses that SPARKLE!

When I was a young girl, my mother had a set of very old houses that we would set up at Christmas time.  The backs had holes cut into them so that you could put a light bulb from a strand of Christmas tree lights into the hole, then the light could shine through the windows of the houses.  There was even a church, and it had windows painted to look like stain glass windows.

Stephanie has taken the memories of those vintage Holiday Villages and given them a modern twist using the rhinestone sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique and Rowlux Illusion Film.

Miniature Card Making

This project video will inspire you to invite some friends over for a crafting party!  And you can even MAKE the invites to the party with this video.

Marisa Pawelko recently taped a segment for Creative Living on PBS. The Buckle Boutique is honored that Marisa included our rhinestone sticker sheets in her video for these Miniature Cards.

If you did not know, Marisa has a website call The Modern Surrealist and a full line of dies with Sizzix. One of the dies is a base cut for a card and envelope, and there are a variety overlays that you can add to the base cut to embellish these little cards. These dies make it simple to perfectly cut your pieces, and when you use rhinestone sticker sheets for the overlay pieces you can add sparkle easily!

Holiday Ornament

Are you planning on making any personalized handmade ornaments this year? Today Lori is going to show us how she created a beautiful ornament for her family to remember their trip to Walt Disney World this year.

We’ve gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. For so many people, their pets are a member of the family, and they enjoy pampering them with gifts over the Holiday Season.  This project shows an easy way to embellish a dish for your favorite furry friend.

To start with you can purchase a dish at any pet store, or if your pet thinks they are a human and likes to eat from people dishes, stop by your local thrift store and purchase a bowl or dish that used to belong to someone’s fine china set.

Measure the dish so you know how much space you have work with before you start to create your embellishments.  For this dish I knew that I wanted to keep things between the gold accent lines on the dish, so I had less than an inch of space to work with.

HandmadeHoliday_Dish

Using my royal blue rhinestone sticker sheets from The Buckle Boutique, I cut the name Jack.

RhinestoneName

There are full details and a video with cutting instructions here, but the basics are

1) place the rhinestone sticker sheet on the cutting mat with the rhinestones down, so you are cutting through the BACK of the sheet

2) flip the image, since you are cutting through the back of the sheet, otherwise your whole cut comes out backwards

3) cut at a SLOW SPEED with LOW PRESSURE on a very sticky mat with a DEEP CUT BLADE

4) I use a mulit-cut of 3 or 4 just to make sure that the blade gets all the way through the sticker sheet

For this project I even adjusted my letters so that they were touching, then when I cut it the name Jack came out in one full piece, instead of four separate letters that I needed to line up on the dish.

Look how easily it lifts right out of the sheet!

RhinestoneName2

And this is what the cut looks like once I flip it over.

RhinestoneName3

There is a thin covering on the back of the rhinestone sticker sheet, so once I peel that off I expose the adhesive back . . . so now the whole word is one sparkly sticker that I can place on the dish.

Jack is REALLY going to think he is the King of the house now!

Handmade Holidays Blog Hop – Day Two!

Handmade Holidays 2014 Hop Logo

Welcome to the 4th Annual Handmade Holidays Blog Hop! A few years ago we were looking online for handmade gift ideas and thought it would be great if there was a resource dedicated JUST to handmade gift ideas. Enter the Handmade Holidays hop! We’ve gathered over 100 of our creative blogger friends in the craft industry as well as some of our fellow product manufacturers to bring you a plethora of inspiring gift ideas you can make now to give to your friends, family, and colleagues. Pin and bookmark these ideas for this holiday season and to use throughout the year! Each day of the hop features approximately 30 gift projects and you can “hop” from one blog to another to check them all out.

Today’s project is from Ellen of The Buckle Boutique’s Design Team.

I’ve turned to my favorite bling products from The Buckle Boutique to make some gift containers that will be stuffed with homemade candies and cookies for special gifts this year.  Here’s one such container I’ve made for the upcoming season:

To make this pretty gift container, I used a My Creations™ Kraft Container from Close To My Heart, and The Buckle Boutique’s Dazzling Diamonds adhesive rhinestone sheets in clear and red.  Though it’s just as pretty plain, I topped the red rhinestone with Sparkle Flourishes also from Close To My Heart.  Then I tied the whole package in some red organza ribbon from my stash, held on with a rhinestone ribbon slide by The Buckle Boutique as well.

Here are pictures of the products I used:

Now, let me give you a tutorial on how to make this very simple gift container:First, start with this perfect kraft container … or recycle and use another similar sort of container.

Next, make accurate measurements of your container and its lid. Measure to the opening lid, without including the inch or so that is tucked into the lid to secure it closed.

Using the measurements you determined on your container, measure the same height on your Dazzling Diamonds adhesive rhinestone sheets — silver (clear) for the bottom and red for the lid, like so:

No special tools are needed to cut The Buckle Boutique’s Dazzling Diamonds!

The backing peels off easily, exposing the adhesive that really sticks!

Affix the sheet to the container, wrapping it around and pressing it firmly to the container.  Trim off the excess after the edge meets/abuts.

Embellish it as you desire. Here, I used adhesive flourish gems from Close To My Heart.

Tah-dah, you’re done!  Tie a ribbon around it, top it with a ribbon / buckle slide and your gift is glorious and beautiful, thanks to The Buckle Boutique.
